Home > Child Violin and Viola Size Chart
Before choosing a violin or viola for your child or grandchild, you will need to know what size they need. I have violins for children four years old to teen, so you will need to know what size to buy.

The measuring is not by a child’s height, but by arm length. See the video below on where to measure.

If your child’s measurement falls in between two lengths, opt for the smaller one. It’s easier to play a slightly smaller violin than trying to reach further on a bigger one.

The 4/4 full size violins are for teens and adults. The electric and acoustic electric violins are 4/4 full size.

The violas are for adults or smaller adults.
